Whites Farm Education Trust is a land based initiative set on three acres of beautiful land on the edge of Dartmoor.
The Trust offers courses and workshops to people of a wide range of ages and abilities who are interested in learning new skills with a holistic approach to the land, craft and science. Courses include an introduction to biodynamic gardening, green woodcraft, pottery, nutrition, alternativphotography and soap-making. The Trust is also a venue for community activities such as seasonal festivals, talks, conferences, cultural and music events.
About the land
The Trust has a variety of locations on-site for its activities. The land consists of an orchard, a market garden with polytunnels and a Green Woodcraft bodging glade bordered by a river (the Dean Burn). The farm buildings and structures consist of a large barn for woodwork and carpentry, a traditional Linhay barn which is used for pottery and photography, a Field Kitchen which also serves as a classroom space and has it's own kitchen garden, and two large commercial polytunnels - one lined with straw bales to form a community meeting space/concert hall and the other hosting our five-sheep and farm tools/machinery. We also have a a lower market garden with further polytunnels and bordering the river.
